افتراضي Statements of the Imaams of Guidance in Obliterating the Mindset of the Ghulaat

What follows is a translation of various quotes/excerpts from the thread http://www.kulalsalafiyeen.com/vb/showthread.php?t=47578
May Allaah reward the compiler the best of rewards.

Shaykh Muqbil bin Haadee, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said
"I advise you to ask Shaykh Rabee bin Haadee, may Allaah preserve him, as much of his life has passed with the Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen, so he is the best aware of them, their realities and the realities behind the groups. However, I do not wish that you blindly follow him, but benefit from his knowledge.’ Fadaa’ih wa nasaa’ih in al-Ajwibatu ‘ala as’ilatul ikhwa fil Imaaraat, in his response to the question, ‘Are the Okhwaan al-Muslimeen from Ahlus Sunnah?’, p. 126

The ‘allaamah Muqbil bin Haadee al-Waa’di’ee was asked, ‘Do you agree with Shaykh Rabee in his written criticisms in Jarh wa Tadeel and in the methodology he is upon or do you differ with him? Are you aware whether Shaykh Bin Baaz, Ibn Uthaymeen and al-Albaani agree with him?
Answer: The source upon which Ahlus Sunnah are established upon is one – the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the messenger of Allaah sall Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Their ‘aqeedah is one and their direction is one in all the Islaamic lands.
We are in agreement that the hizbees and people of innovation should be disparaged. However, there remain individuals who are disparaged with some but not with others. And this occurred at the time of the Salaf – perhaps Ahmad bin Hanbal would say about a narrator that he is reliable but Yahya bin Ma’een would say he is a liar, or the opposite. And the same is applicable for al-Bukhaaree, Abu Zur’ah and Abu Haatim.
The important thing is for them not to blindly follow each other. If we differ in deeming an individual reliable or untrustworthy, this does not mean that we differ in ‘aqeedah, nor does it mean we differ in direction.
As for whether Shaykh Bin Baaz and al-Albaani agree or disagree with him – I have not read many of Shaykh Rabee’s books in this subject. Another thing is that the People of the Sunnah do not blindly follow one another. And ultimately, all of us achieve that which is correct and err and all [at times] know and [at times] are ignorant. And Allaah is the One who Aids.

افتراضي Statements of the Imaams of Guidance

The Imaam Muqbil bin Haadee al-Waadi’ee, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said, ‘…so it is necessary for Ahlus Sunnah to establish Jarh wa Ta’deel. And who establishes it? The scholar who has insight and fears Allaah – it is not for everyone to preside over Jarh wa Ta’deel.’
Fadaa’ih wa Nasaa’ih in ‘al-Ajwibah ‘ala as’ilatil ikhwaan fil Bahrain’ in response to the question, ‘There are those nowadays who wish to close the door of Jarh wa Ta’deel in totality…’ p. 38.

Al-‘allaamah Muhammad Naasir ad-Deen al-Albaani

Q : What is the defining position regarding the people of innovation, and the truth is there are people of innovation around us – so everyone who makes [anlawful] tawassul is an innovator; everyone who makes [unlawful] istighaatha is an innovator – to the extent that everyone who does not move their finger in tashhahud is an innovator – i.e. there is hardly any[one] good in this matter.
So the position of the youth in this is that they are stringent against the qobooriyeen, stringent against those who make tawassul, as we have among us, o shaykh, clear qobooriyoon, whose affair is clear and their istighaaathah by other than Allaah is manifest – rather, they have enmity towards Ahlus Sunnah through these actions and sometimes plot against them.

A: (after some speech)…and for this reason, in many of my lectures and words, I say that they are people of innovation, or that they are astray. They are in need of our having compassion for them and being merciful upon them more than us having enmity or malice towards them. And that is because they are sick with a spiritual ailment, if this is the correct term.
In summary – this is not something new. Our brother, as you can see, is recording all my words and has a large number of cassettes, all of which emphasise having pity upon those innovators.
Silsilat al-Huda wan-Noor (338).

Imaam bin Baaz on the Methodology of Correcting

Question: is it permissible to mention the names of individual callers on tape if they err in [knowledge-based] matters to refute them? What is the manner of such refutation – is it to disparage them and let the masses know about them to warn them about their books or not?

The esteemed Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez bin Baaz, may Allaah have mercy upon him, responded:
If an error is found, it is to be clarified with the evidence and dua for the author with ‘wafaqahu Allaah’ [may Allaah grant him success] or ‘saddada khata’ahu’ [may Allaah fill his mistake]. The like of these words are said as a rebuke and then the point of evidence is to be shown – ‘The evidence is such-and-such’; ‘He may have been unmindful of such-and-such’. They should clarify the matter with the scholars so they can clarify the mistakes to the person who made them.
If a plain error is found, and that individual is from the people of knowledge, it should be explained to them with the evidence in a good manner and with good speech – not with harshness and stringency, nor with announcing it, meaning that one says ‘It is not befitting to take knowledge from so-and-so’. Rather, their mistake should be clarified while stating they are from the people of knowledge. They are to be taken from in that which they teach the people, except if the proof is established that they are incorrect. Indeed, Maalik erred, Ahmad, Abu Haneefa, Shaa’fi’ee ath-Thawri and others.
They have mistakes that are known, yet the masses are not prevented from taking from them in that which they were correct in.
There is no scholar except that they have issues in which they err - not understanding from the evidences that which others have and recant to that which is correct.
